Moore secures spot in England U21s

Leicester City defender Liam Moore has secured a place in England's under-21s squad for their forthcoming friendly against Northern Ireland.

The teenager has been selected by Stuart Pearce for the first time alongside five other debutants and will hope to make his mark in the 21-man squad. Moore had attracted interest from a range of Premier League clubs at the end of the summer following a successful start to his senior career with the Foxes, including speculation surrounding a potential move to Manchester United.

"This will be an opportunity for a number of younger players to impress and put themselves in contention for a place next summer," said Pearce in announcing his inexperienced Young Lions squad, "There are young players within this group who will be able to go again with the under-21s for the 2015 campaign, so every chance to play for England will give them experience they will no doubt call upon in the future."

Liam Moore offered immediate reaction to his call-up on Twitter: "It's a massive honour to be called up from my country and I have my club to thank for my chance," he wrote.
